PRIMARY CURRICULUM

The philosophy of MAIS directly affects the child and is expressed in a series of desired attributes and traits that are characteristics of learners with an international perspective. They apply to all learners and is expected that all students will participate in all aspects of the programme. Education at MAIS is a joyful journey into the world of learning. The Primary school curriculum has been drawn out according to the sound pedagogy and latest methodology with the purpose of facilitating acquisition not only of knowledge in core subjects but also to encourage the development of sound values and positive attitudes towards life. The curriculum lays strong emphasis on constructive approach where the child is the architect of his/her own life. As a part of their social development, students will learn how to share and accept responsibilities by working together and finding new ways to cross the hurdles. Learning in primary includes whole class, group and individual activities that focus on holistic understanding of ideas and concepts. Learning is focused on the total growth of the developing child, meeting intellectual, physical and emotional needs while educating both hearts and minds

Languages (English, Malayalam, Hindi)
MAIS understands the centrality of communication when it comes to being a successful individual. An emphasis is placed on establishing strong understanding of different texts, their structure, spelling, and grammar. Regular reading programmes, writing and speaking activities make students confident, creative and expressive.

Mathematics
An understanding in mathematics is essential to everyday life. Our students are guided through regular problem solving, and calculation skills to connect the key concepts and tools in their learning.

Science and Technology

Students utilize contemporary science resources to understand the foundation of scientific process with experiments and practical applications. They are encouraged to research and present their findings using logical processes.
Technology in classroom inspires creativity and encourages the students to be engaged and interactive in their own learning. Our students are given regular access to computers with carefully selected age appropriate educational software.

Physical Education
Making activity a regular part of their day will show students the importance that MAIS place on being healthy and active – a lesson that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Daily physical activity time in the school runs for a period of 40 minutes. Establishing a definite routine is important to the success of the program and also makes movement in and out of the class room more efficient as students know exactly when it is time to move. This daily activity gives opportunities in developing children’s physical activity related knowledge, attitudes, motor skills, behavioral skills, and confidence.
Fun Games provided to the primary students is a physical fitness programme which is recreational both physically and mentally. It gives low intensity exercises to students with basic movements and games with flexible rules. It also helps in identifying the sports talent in a child.
